What is Immune Infertility Treatment?
One of the reasons of unexplained infertility is Reproductive immunology. Immunological disturbances can cause infertility and other symptoms as below
- Repeated implantation failure
- Repeated miscarriages
- Poor Egg quality
- Poor Sperm quality
- Poor Fertilization
- Poor embryo formation
- Degeneration of growing embryos
Some gynaecological disorders in women are related to disturbances in immunology and there is evidence that below disorders also increase complications during fertility treatment and increase the number of treatment cycles required per woman
- Endometriosis
- Polycystic ovarian disease
- Chronic Endometritis
- Tubal hydrosalpinx
Normally our immune cells protect us from infections, but during the process of implantation, the immune cells have a very complex system of processes to activate and control inside the mother’s womb
Similarly, when sperm are released by the man, seminal plasma also contains immune cells that protect the sperm cells during its long journey in the woman’s womb and towards the tubes where the egg released by the ovary awaits the sperm to get fertilized.
Any immune disturbance in this process can lead to infertility.
Antibodies against ovary have been found in women and have been associated with poor egg quality. Many immunomodulatory therapies are utilized with appropriate calibration at Akruti IVF to ensure a reduction of Anti ovarian antibodies improving chances of women conceiving with their own eggs. Ovarian rejuvenation protocol includes treating for these along with improving markers like AMH and Antral follicle count (number of follicles containing eggs in ovary) The woman’s immune system during egg release and embryo being implanted in the woman’s womb, has important immune processes that are required for survival of the developing fetus (baby)
How is Immune Infertility Treatment done?
At Akruti IVF, when patient is identified as having long standing infertility, a basic immunological testing is recommended for all patients seeking fertility advice.
Knowing your immune profile can save a lot of financial resources as well as time of patients before embarking on the treatment journey to achieve a pregnancy.
Reproductive immunology is a complex field of study and many general gynaecologists and even part time IVF Centres do not have the access and knowledge to appropriately treat immune issues. Akruti IVF partners with Immunologists and bring the lastest treatment methodology to patients.
Our Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic and Recurrent Implantation failure cases are handled with diagnostic testing for immunological infertility and tailored personalized approach is used to treat both husband and wife.
Our Research laboratory conducts some immunological testing in house and some outsourced and combines current knowledge with immune treatment to increase the number of babies born per couple.
This can prevent many obstetric risks and complications to the infertile woman once she achieves a pregnancy.
