In Vitro Fertilization, or IVF, is a procedure used to treat infertility in which the egg & sperms are fertilized (In a dish) outside the body in an incubator inside the laboratory. The embryos that are formed by the union of the egg sperms are transferred into the uterus where implantation occurs.

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is a medical procedure where eggs are retrieved from a woman’s ovaries and fertilized with sperm in a laboratory dish inside an incubator. The resulting embryos are then carefully monitored and nurtured for a few days before one or more of them are transferred back into the woman’s uterus. This method allows the embryos to implant and develop into a healthy pregnancy.

The Steps involved in IVF are as follows:

 • Ovarian Stimulation – The ovaries are stimulated to develop healthy egg.

 • Egg (oocyte) collection -The eggs are collected/retrieved.

 • Sperm collection – Sperm sample provided by the male partner is collect.

 • Fertilization – The eggs & sperms are kept together in a dish inside the laboratory for fertilization.

• Embryo culture – The egg & sperm fertilization will form an embryo in few days

• Embryo selection – The healthiest embryo is selected on basis of morphology & other parameters.

• Embryo Transfer – The chosen embryo is transferred to the female uterus using a transfer catheter

• Embryo implantation – The transferred embryo gets implanted in the endometrium of the female.

• Pregnancy – After few days a pregnancy test is done to determine the results.

The number of embryos to be transferred will depend upon the following factors:

 • Number of embryos

 • Health of the embryos

 • Age of the woman

 • Age of multiple pregnancy

Keeping in mind above factors The IVF Infertility expert doctors at AKRUTI IVF will take the decision regarding the number of embryos to be transferred.

After the embryo transfer, the woman may be asked to rest for the reaming day. The woman can resume normal activates the next day. In approximately 2 weeks, she will be asked to return for a pregnancy rest. Some woman may experience some cramping or bloating or breast tenderness. However, if the woman experience heavy vaginal bleeding or pain in the pelvis, blood in the urine, or fever, she should consult the AKRUTI IVF doctor.

AKRUTI IVF. has a provision of freezing the remaining embryos. These options allow storage of the embryos for future use, like 2nd child after couple of years or in case of an unfortunate event of miscarriage. These frozen embryos can be kept in storage for years at a nominal cost.

There are many factors that contributed to the cause of infertility. IVF is generally preformed if any of the following problems exit:

 • Damaged or blocked fallopian tubes.

 • Low sperm count, poor sperm motility or blockage in the tubes that carry sperms in the males.

 • Endometriosis is a condition in which the endometrium (uterine lining) grown outside of the uterus, e.g., ovaries, fallopian tubes, etc. This affects both fertility of the egg & implantation of the embryo in the uterus.

• Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or other ovarian conditions.

• Problems in release or production of eggs.

• Abnormal uterus or cervix, Uterine Fibriods etc

• Unexplained infertility For more information, kindly consult Expert doctors at AKRUTI IVF Centre.
